How Use New Mouse From HP To Wi-Fi

How Use New Mouse From HP To Wi-Fi HP today announced a new lineup of wireless accessories equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity and HP Link-5 technology to promote mobility and ease of use. Products such as the company’s exclusive HP Wi-Fi® Mobile Mouse allow users to do more without the hassle of wires and with the assurance of extended battery life.

Any wireless mouse worth its salt ships with a receiver in the form of a dongle. HP's Wi-Fi mouse incredulously does not have any receiver of its own. That means, unless you want to use it with a Wi-Fi ready laptop, this mouse is of no worth to you. On the other hand, laptop users will appreciate the fact that this mouse frees up a USB port. The rodent has five programmable buttons and a four-way scroll for better navigation. Interestingly, the gadget offers a degree of control over its laser sensor, allowing it to adapt to the different surfaces. HP claims a battery of life up to nine months, which sounds impressive.

We'd guess HP would have mentioned a laser sensor if the mouse had one, so infrared seems more likely. And while it's tempting to believe the mouse would work on any Wi-Fi-capable device, the iPad, for example, doesn't support a Bluetooth mouse without jailbreaking.

As for who might use the WiFi Mobile Mouse, laptop owners seem like an obvious target. Bluetooth still isn't a universal laptop feature, and with an ever-growing number of external devices that need synching, travelers especially may appreciate a device that frees up a USB port.

In addition to the Wi-Fi mouse, HP is also releasing new PC accessories for its Link-5 technology, which allows users to connect as many as five HP-compatible computer accessories with one receiver using 2.4-GHz wireless technology. The new accessories include the HP Wireless Mini Keyboard, the Wireless Ultrathin Wireless Keyboard, the Wireless Elite v2 Keyboard, the Wireless Optical Comfort Mouse, the Wireless Laser Comfort Mouse and the Wireless Mobile Mouse. The HP Wi-Fi Mobile Mouse will be available in June for $49.99. HP's Link-5 accessories range from $24.99 to $59.99.
