Lenovo has added another ultra portable laptop to its range with the launch of the 12.5 inch IdeaPad U260. The Lenovo IdeaPad U260 features a 12.5 inch display, and as you can see from the photo it is designed to be portable, measuring just 0.71 inches thick and weighing in at 3.04lbs.
The Lenovo IdeaPad U260 comes with a choice of Intel ULVC Core i3 and Core i5 processors, there is also a four cell battery, two USB ports, and 4GB of RAM.
The U260 comes with a CPU at or below Intel's Core i7 class, the option of a solid state or a standard hard drive, up to 4GB of memory, and Windows 7. Starting at $899 for what we assume are basic (but upgradeable) specs, the IdeaPad a reasonably priced notebook.
With upscale looks, a ridiculously light form (it weighs less than 3 pounds), and a starting price under a grand, the U260 might turn consumers' heads back from tablets to proper notebooks. For a while, at least.
Typing comfort comes courtesy of scalloped, chiclet-type keys on a breathable, water-resistant keyboard with taller keys that have more space in between for ease of use. Cursor control is via a multi-touch, shatter-resistant glass touchpad with matte etching and the input area is surrounded by a faux leather palm rest.
To help users get the best from high definition visual entertainment, the U260 has Dolby Advanced Audio high-end JBL surround-sound speakers and sports an HDMI-out port.
A 5-in-1 media card reader, USB, Ethernet and VGA ports and a headphone jack complete the wired connectivity options with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR ticking the wireless boxes.
