Sony's New VAIO CB And CA Laptops pack the latest

Sony's New VAIO CB And CA Laptops pack the latest. We're aware, the "exclusive" green and orange neon color of Sony's VAIO CB and CA laptops can make your eyes bleed, but Sony's pretty excited about the aesthetic and the way it radiates light around the edges of the laptop. Oh, and don't forget how the touchpad "emits a beautiful glow." It's true, the rigs do have an interesting glow stick-like look to them -- at least, we thought so when we saw them last month however, we found their innards and features to be more enlightening.

"The new VAIO C Series delivers an extraordinary design with new, vivid materials," said Mike Lucas, senior vice president of the Networked Technologies and Services Division at Sony Electronics. "Combined with premium performance and features, as well as enhanced with Sony Imagination Studio, C Series users can be entertained and show off their creative side."

The VAIO CB notebooks aren’t just flash on the outside, underneath these bright colors resides a Second Generation Intel Core i5 processor complete with TurbOBoost 2.0 which can ramp up the power when you need an extra boost. The VAIO C notebooks can also be configured with an AMD Radeon HD 6630 graphics processor with 1GB RAM for users that need more graphics power for multimedia creation or gaming. Additionally, the VAIO CB notebooks can be configured with a Blu-Ray Drive which would be a nice addition for notebooks that are upgraded to the full HD 1080p display.

The systems are all driven by Core i5 processors and have the option of a Radeon HD 6630M that can provide fast mid-range graphics with live switching to Intel video to save power. Blu-ray is also an option on the systems, whose primary split gives a 14-inch screen to the CA and a 15.5-inch display to the CB.

Pre-orders start for the new notebooks on March 13, when the entry level will cost $880.

Buy new Apple laptop SKUs

Buy new Apple laptop SKUs

Best Buy's laptop discovery tool is doing a slightly overzealous job this morning by listing a set of "new SKU" laptops from Apple Computer before said company has had a chance to announce them. This seems to corroborate recent rumors of a MacBook Pro refresh coming next week, as do the $1,199, $1,499, $1,799, and $2,199 price points, all of which are presently occupied by current-gen 13- and 15-inch MBP variants.

Bestbuy will probably have these new Macbook Pro laptops in stock at around that date, which happens to be a Friday, with Apple formally launching the range a few days before.
The leaks come after reports of stock issues affecting the Macbook Pro, one that caused rumours about an imminent update of the range, to spread like wildfire. It is not known whether (or to what extent) the issues affecting Intel 6 Series chipset range may hamper the launch of the new laptops

Lenovo LePad price $500 launching in May or June

Lenovo's Lenovo LePad ready to get specific with dates now that Google's got itself an honest to goodness tablet OS. A company spokesman said that its LePad tablet first announced by that name back in June 2010 but previewed at CES all the way back in January 2010 -- will ship in its home country of China in March before making its way to the global stage in June. Unfortunately, Lenovo isn't saying anything about final specs or which countries are first on its list -- we already knew it was coming to the US in 2011.

The LePad will be packing a 10.1-inch multitouch capacitive touchscreen, 1.3 GHz Snapdragon processor, 3G/WiFi, and of course Android 2.2. It is likely to get the Honeycomb upgrade, but again that is unconfirmed. The tablet optional laptop dock runs Windows 7 on an Intel Core I5, and combined it looks like it will be packaged under the name “IdeaPad U1 Hybrid”. Lenovo will also preload their proprietary app store on the tablet.

In addition to LePad, Lenovo has several tablet designs under development. Its IdeaPad U1, a Windows laptop with a detachable touchscreen that functions as a standalone Linux tablet, debuted in January but won't ship until next year. The U1 was originally slated to ship in June and cost about $1000. But it was put on hold when the tablet didn't meet Lenovo's quality standards, according to IDG News reports.

Lenovo in February introduced the ThinkPad X201 Tablet, a business-oriented Windows laptop with a 12.1-inch display that rotates and sits on top of the keyboard for data entry.

feature acer aspire 5742G

Acer's Aspire 5742G is a 15.6in laptop that offers good performance and battery life in a surprisingly light body. It's comfortable to use and it feels well built. We think it's a good all-rounder that can be used by students, home users and even business users for tasks ranging from office work to video editing and even a little bit of gaming Acer's Aspire 5742G is a 15.6in laptop that's big, but not all that heavy. It weighs only 2.4kg and it actually feels light when you hold it in your hands.

It's a well-balanced notebook with a nice design, it performed well in our tests, and it has good battery life considering its large size. We think it would definitely suit a student looking for a good all-round notebook for Web browsing, running productivity applications, accessing multimedia files, and even a little gaming.

Performance And Battery Life
The Aspire 5742G runs a Core i3 370M 2.4GHz chip with an Nvidia GeForce GT 420M GPU. This gives access to the Optimus technology--that is, when the Nvidia card is not needed for hefty 3D or movie work, it switches to the Intel graphics to save on battery life.

3DMark06 brought in a score of 6,713, less than the AMD-powered Aspire 5552G, but it's still a respectable result, which allows the 5742G to play some modern games at modest settings. PCMark05 came a little under the 5552G as well, scoring 5,784, meaning that while it should be fine at office and productivity tasks, it's not as powerful as the AMD alternative.

Where the 5742G really came into its own was battery life. With all power-saving features turned off, screen brightness and volume set to maximum and an Xvid file played back, the laptop lasted 2 hours 24 minutes and 29 seconds before going into hibernation.

Pictured Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

Pictured Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

Ever since the Nexus S appeared last year, we've all been wondering what the Samsung Galaxy S2 would be like. The original Galaxy S was a major hit, and it looks like the Galaxy S2 will go far in defending its popularity ranking. The Samsung Hub has obtained specs and a high-res image of the upcoming smartphone.

In fact, a Widget on the Galaxy S2 homescreen invites you to watch a live broadcast of the Galaxy S2 Unpacked Event tomorrow. The next-generation Galaxy S has been surrounded by a ton of rumors in the last few months, but it looks like we'll now finally get all the official details. With only one more day left before the unveiling, let's check out what the Samsung Galaxy S2 seems to be all about.

The specs remain pretty much the same, according to Samsung Hub, who say they confirmed the details with Samsung. The Samsgung Galaxy S II will sport a 1GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED (Plus?) 800 x 480 display, be 8.49mm thick (at its thinnest point, reportedly), 116g in weight, HSPA+ Wi-Fi 802.11g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 + HS (High Speed), 8MP camera with HD video recording (we assume 720p), gyroscopic sensor, and the typical storage specs of 16 and 32GB.

The Galaxy Tab II, it will have a 10.1-inch 1280 × 800 display, Honeycomb (Android 3.0), 8MP rear-facing camera with HD video recording and playback and dual surround sound speakers. We assume it will have a front-facing camera as well, but that wasn't reported. Also, it's been said the device will sport stock UI, without add-ons like Samsung's TouchWiz.

Toshiba mini NB505 image

Toshiba mini NB505 image

The Toshiba mini NB 505 N508BL is a nice little netbook that comes with a cool blue Easy Grip Finish on the lid, it may look as glam as the glossy finishes that some netbooks and laptop come with. However, when the netbook is on floor because the device slipped out of your hand, the glossy lid is not going to do much then. While with this easy grip surface, it should help the user hold onto the netbook even under extreme circumstances, such a walking with the device etc.

The netbook will be powered by an average Intel Atom N455 (1.66 GHz) processor, it comes with the almost standard netbook screen of a 10.1 inch WSVGA display with 1 GB Memory and a handy 250 GB hard drive completing the rest of the set. This is a cool looking machine that offers the user good all round performance and reliability, this all anyone can hope for with almost any machine, so to get it in a netbook is a bonus on its own.

At first look, it is slim, sexy, and colorful. Just like with the Lenovo IdeaPad U260, the teal coloring wouldn’t haven’t been my first choice of hue, but it works for the NB505. I like the teal on it, and you know what? It has a rubberized feel! Yes the world would be a better place if every gadget was rubberized!
Now it isn’t all peaches & cream with the NB505 — there are a couple items I wasn’t exactly fond of. For one, the power button, um horrible location. Yes it might appear sleek right in the middle of the hinge, but man I had a hard time pushing it in that spot.

Pricing for the updated netbooks from Toshiba is actually quite interesting, since we're talking about roughly 300 US dollars for the mini NB505, while the NB305 sells for around 380 US dollars, both of these ultra-portable computing systems being slated to hit the shelves right after CES 2011 closes its gates, on January 9.
