Toshiba mini NB505 image

The Toshiba mini NB 505 N508BL is a nice little netbook that comes with a cool blue Easy Grip Finish on the lid, it may look as glam as the glossy finishes that some netbooks and laptop come with. However, when the netbook is on floor because the device slipped out of your hand, the glossy lid is not going to do much then. While with this easy grip surface, it should help the user hold onto the netbook even under extreme circumstances, such a walking with the device etc.

The netbook will be powered by an average Intel Atom N455 (1.66 GHz) processor, it comes with the almost standard netbook screen of a 10.1 inch WSVGA display with 1 GB Memory and a handy 250 GB hard drive completing the rest of the set. This is a cool looking machine that offers the user good all round performance and reliability, this all anyone can hope for with almost any machine, so to get it in a netbook is a bonus on its own.

At first look, it is slim, sexy, and colorful. Just like with the Lenovo IdeaPad U260, the teal coloring wouldn’t haven’t been my first choice of hue, but it works for the NB505. I like the teal on it, and you know what? It has a rubberized feel! Yes the world would be a better place if every gadget was rubberized!
Now it isn’t all peaches & cream with the NB505 — there are a couple items I wasn’t exactly fond of. For one, the power button, um horrible location. Yes it might appear sleek right in the middle of the hinge, but man I had a hard time pushing it in that spot.

Pricing for the updated netbooks from Toshiba is actually quite interesting, since we're talking about roughly 300 US dollars for the mini NB505, while the NB305 sells for around 380 US dollars, both of these ultra-portable computing systems being slated to hit the shelves right after CES 2011 closes its gates, on January 9.
