Dell Inspiron M5030 Laptop Review is a mid-range laptop suitable for every walk of life. The Dell Inspiron M5030 laptop deal combines excellent productivity features and great multimedia options with the power of Windows 7 Home Premium.

The main highlight of this laptop is the inclusion of the all new AMD V-Series processor which is AMDs answer to Intel’s Celeron II processors. The processor is designed to efficiently handle everyday computing tasks and handle all your multimedia needs without any problems.

The M5030 itself has been around since last year. The big differences with this new Inspiron M5030 is that this notebook sports a Spanish language keyboard and Windows 7 comes pre-loaded in Spanish as well. Otherwise, the specs are quite similar with an AMD Athlon II P360 prcoessor, a 15.6-inch widescreen (1,366 x 768 resolution), 4GB of RAM, 802.11g/n Wi-Fi, a DVD burner, and a 3-in-1 media card reader.
Pricing for the Spanish edition of the M030 starts at $499. However, it will only be given a limited release for now at BrandsMart USA stores in Florida and Georgia.
The keyboard is functional but unexceptional. It also rattles as you type, so if you intend to use the laptop when studying or with your family this might put you (or them) off. The lack of a dedicated numeric keypad is also sure to disappoint those who regularly input data.

When it comes to performance, the M5030's Intel Celeron processor doesn't prove as capable as the one used in the Acer Aspire 5336-T353G32Mnkk. Office work and web browsing won't be a problem for this laptop, but anything more resource intensive, such as a music editing application, will cause the machine to show significant amounts of lag.

MSI CR650 Laptop Feature

MSI CR650 Laptop Feature is now on sale through the official MSI online store. The laptop is notable for including AMD’s Fusion APU instead of an Intel Sandy Bridge processor. Thus, the laptop should retail for slightly cheaper than expected and have great battery life without sacrificing too much in the graphics department.

The 15.6-inch laptop will run Windows 7 Home Premium and include a 1366x768 resolution display, 1.6GHz dual-core Fusion E-350 processor, Radeon HD 6310 graphics, 3GB RAM and a 320GB hard drive. USB 2.0, HDMI, and VGA-out ports are also included, but unfortunately there are no USB 3.0 ports to speak of. Oddly enough, battery life of the laptop is not listed on the official MSI webpage.

The CR650's glossy black lid has a very subtle grid pattern and is flecked with metallic sparkles. Inside, the palm rest is a silver/gray color with the same pattern as on the lid. The gray fades to black when it reaches the island-style keyboard, above which are two speakers flanking dedicated media buttons. Overall, the look is fairly sleek for such a low-cost notebook, but the lid is a fingerprint magnet.
Above the keyboard are dedicated media buttons. From left, they are: DVD eject, Screen off, TurboBattery (a utility that helps conserve battery life), a configurable hot key, media player, and power. Dedicated volume controls would have been nice, but the Fn shortcuts work fine.

Other specifications include Gigabit Ethernet, an HD webcam, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, SRS PC Sound and a 6-cell battery, the latter supplemented by the Turbo Battery+ power-saving technology.

Unfortunately, no shipment date or price was provided, so interested consumers will have to wait for further word on the company's part or just keep their eyes peeled for online listings.

Samsung RF511-S02, RF711-S01 Review

Samsung launched two new laptops, which are powered by the 2nd Generation Intel Core processors. The 15.6 inch Samsung RF511-S02 comes equipped with the Intel Core i7-2630QM quad-core 2.00GHz CPU, a DVD burner and 1366 x 768 display resolution. RF711-S01 with the dual-core i5-2410M 2.30GHz chip.

Both laptops have Nvidia Optimus switchable graphics technology, including the Intel HD integrated graphics and the GeForce GT540M 1GB video card. Also, the systems have 4GB of DDR3 memory, and a 500GB hard drive. The RF511 comes with a DVD burner and 1366 x 768 display resolution, whereas the RF711 sports a Blu-ray combo drive and a 1600 x 900 screen.

For file storage new items include hard disk drives with a capacity of 500, 640 GB or 1 TB (2 x 500 GB). Spindle Speed ​​- 5400 or 7200 rpm. Samsung Series 2, 4, 6 Business Laptops Price has announced three new laptop lines, the Samsung Series 2, Series 4, and Series 6 business class laptops. All three models feature two different screen size options; the Series 2 and 4 have 12.5-inch and 14-inch screen size options and the Series 6 has a 14-inch and 15.6-inch screen.

Samsung Series 2 laptops are the budget line, coming in both 12.5-inch and 14-inch sizes (the 12.5-inch with a Celeron processor, the 14-inch with a Core i3 CPU). They come with 2 to 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and a 1366 x 768 pixel display.
Samsung’s mid-range Series 4 is also offered in 12.5- and 14-inch sizes, but provides Core i3, i5, and i7 processors, up to 6GB RAM, up to 500GB HDD, a 6-cell battery for up to 7 hours of run time, and also Intel HD GPU.

The Series 6 are higher-end 14″ and 15.6″ Core i3 ~ i7 powered business-rugged notebooks with switchable graphics that combines the Intel HD with Nvidia NVS 4200M. Other specifications include up to 8GB of RAM, up to 500GB HDD or up to 256GB solid state drive, and up to 7 hours of battery life. Samsung’s 6 series laptops have reinforced magnesium alloy construction.

The new line also includes Samsung’s Fast Start technology which allows users to start working within 3 seconds of opening the laptop or pressing the sleep button. This is huge for anyone who’s ever stared at their Windows laptop and tapped keys hoping to wake it up faster. Fast Start also protects more of your data by automatically saving to the hard drive.

These straightforward business machines are expected to last up to 7 hours on the included 6-cell battery, but there’s also an option 9-cell for extra long life. Additionally, while the majority of the configurations have integrated Intel HD graphics, the Series 6 will also have an Nvidia graphics option with Optimus technology, which extends battery life by turning on the graphics card only when it’s needed.

WebOS HP PC released launched 2012 preview Leo Apotheker is not a guy who minces his words. He is pretty straightforward in the way he looks at the state of things in HP right now and is planning a course to revamp things at the earliest.

HP has often loaded special interfaces and software on its computers, but they have never been popular enough to be singled out as attractors. The software on its TouchSmart PCs only provides touchscreen support for certain tasks, and HP's past use of pre-boot interfaces like Splashtop haven't been unique. WebOS gives it a mobile OS that could start almost instantly but which could be used almost exclusively for many tasks instead of having to resort to Windows.

Nevertheless, it seems that we're not talking about WebOS becoming some sort of fast-booting InstantOS for the HP machines, but rather it delivering a much deeper level of integration (perhaps a dedicated application running in Windows, or a virtual machine of sorts?).

It seems that, beside making WebOS one of the company's key strategic initiatives, HP's new CEO has also decided to backtrack on some of his predecessor's decisions, and for this reason, it will allocate a much more serious budget for research and development activities, while in the same time attempting to actually bring down the barriers between various divisions, in order to boost the company's level of creativity.

Lenovo's ThinkPad X220online Feature

Lenovo's ThinkPad X220online store looking for an X Series laptop to call your own and you'll be greeted by the familiar X201. But go to Lenovo's spec sheet repository and you'll find a lush PDF file detailing a new ThinkPad X220 model that seems set to become available very shortly indeed, Sized at a somewhat unconventional 12.5 inches.

Unfortunately all we have are these photos, with no other details to accompany them. While it is assured that the 2nd generation Intel Core processors (aka Sandy Bridge) will be powering this little beast, we don’t know about any other updates like an onboard DisplayPort output or battery options.

What we can tell from the photos is that the X Series will get the revised keyboard design first seen in the T400s, with the larger Esc/Del keys and redesigned touchpad. The system control buttons (Volume, Mute, etc) are also updated and the system status LEDs (below the display) have been simplified like the T400s as well.

Design

Two speakers separated by a Dolby Home Theater Virtual Surround Sound label sit in the center, and two thin black buttons--one to launch the Power Smart Manager and an eject button for the tray-loading DVD drive--are on the right side of the deck.

Keyboard and Touchpad
The AS4820TG's FineTip keyboard felt comfortable to the touch. The tactile response wasn't as sharp as we'd prefer, but we had no problem writing this review and a few e-mails. The Ctrl and Alt buttons on both sides are the same size as the letter keys, which resulted a few errors while touch typing.
It would be nice to see dedicated keys for adjusting brightness and volume; those controls are alternate keys on the arrow buttons to the right, but the function key is on the far left. That made changing the volume a two-handed process.

Efika MX smartbook Genesi price drops to $199

The EFIKA MX Smartbook is a portable computer that is small, light and highly energy efficient. It requires less than 12W to fully operate insuring mobility. The Efika MX features an optimized Linux kernel and web browser that fully supports Google Apps Premier Edition.Toshiba’s AC100 getting released at around the same time didn’t help matters, nor did the $350 price tag which is what you’d pay for a mid-high end netbook. Over the weekend, they dropped the price to $199 – around the same price the AC100 has dropped to.

The Efika MX looks like a typical netbook with a 10 inch display, but where most netbooks have an Intel Atom chip, this model has an 800 MHz Freescal i.MX515 ARM Cortex A8 processor. Since Windows isn’t yet available for ARM-based chips, the Efika MX runs Linux, although it’s probably possible to port Android to the platform.

The mini-laptop has a 1024 x 600 pixel display, 16GB of storage, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, optional 3G (which drives up the price by about $50, Bluetooth2.1, 2 USB 2.0 ports, a 1.3MP camera, mic and headphone jacks and a speaker as well as a microSD card slot for expansion. It supports 3D graphics and HD video playback and weighs just over 2 pounds. The computer uses less than 12W of power.

Note one thing: by default Smartbook boots from internal PATA drive but if there is SD card in slot then it is used for booting. This allows to test development kernels without need of getting to U-Boot. I got hit once by that because card which I used to transfer some data had OMAP3 kernels on it As you can imagine it did not booted properly.

After I think hour or two I got it upgraded from Ubuntu 10.10 “maverick” to “natty” and got hit by some modifications done by Genesi. After copying “/boot/” from other Efika MX I got it working again. Next days will bring me working KDE 4.5.2 desktop (will have to rebuild some packages for it).

Tobii and Lenovo laptop show off prototype eye-controlled A lot of companies including heavyweights like Microsoft -- believe that motion control is the future of the human-machine interface. But it's an awful lot of work to wave your hands around every time you want to change windows, isn't it? Swedish firm Tobii, which specializes in eye control, teamed up with Lenovo to craft a run of 20 prototype Windows 7 laptops with eye control sensors built-in, and we had a chance to check out the setup here at CeBIT today.

The initial prototype is significantly larger than an equivalent notebook to accommodate the large sensor, but Tobii hopes to get the size and cost down in the next two years by working with Lenovo. The two companies each have 10 prototypes to help work on the technology in a real environment.

This sounds like an excellent system for the disabled that can’t use their hands or have limited control of their hands. Tobii and Lenovo constructed a first batch of 20 laptops using the tech and each will get ten of the machines to use for testing and demonstration. According to Tobii with the tech on the notebooks all the user has to do is look at a widget to get more detail on it rather than clicking.

"To reach a state where the technology is part of the average computer, we need to make it smaller and cheaper. We believe that this can be realized in a couple of years by partnering with the right manufacturer."

The system sounds great - not only would it be perfect for lazy so-and-sos like team Pocket-lint, it could help massively with personal computing for those with physical disabilities.

The world's first laptop with integrated eye control is on show over at CeBIT in Hannover now. The trade show runs until 5 March.

As for commercialization, they're still a ways off they're thinking two years if they can team up with the right partner. Tobii says that there's a trade-off between sensor size and accuracy; the prototype has a sizable hump on the back and a roughly inch-wide strip running directly below the display, both of which are pretty impractical for a truly portable machine. The sensor must be below the display, we're told, though it could be made quite a bit thinner -- no wider than the bezel you've got below your notebook's current display.
